Workout Wednesday: The Final Countdown

I have been crazy for circuit workouts all summer. They are the best way I have found to torch calories, work multiple muscle groups, and get your cardio in all at the same time.

I love creating my own circuits, but some days I don’t want to think. I just want to follow a plan someone has laid out for me. A former teacher started Grudge Monkey Fitness {I just love the tag line “WHERE THE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS AND EXCUSES ARE USELESS!”} and invited me to be a fan on Facebook. I’m certainly glad I did because it has become my go-to source for endless fitness tips, inspiration, and circuit and interval workout ideas/plans/routines.

One of Grudge Monkey Fitness’ latest, and greatest, is the Final Countdown Simple Circuit Challenge (don’t confuse simple for easy).

In the words of Barney Stinson “Challenge accepted!”

Here’s how it goes:

  • 20 Pushups, 20 Jumping Jacks, 20 Squats, 20 Jumping Jacks, 10 Burpees, 20 Jumping Jacks
  • 19 Pushups, 19 Jumping Jacks, 19 Squats, 19 Jumping Jacks, 9 Burpees, 19 Jumping Jacks
  • 18 Pushups, 18 Jumping Jacks, 18 Squats, 18 Jumping Jacks, 8 Burpees, 18 Jumping Jacks

…and so on until you hit:

  • 1 Pushup, 1 Jumping Jack, 1 Squat, 1 Jumping Jack, 1 Burpee, 1 Jumping Jack {once you get down to round 10, do only one burpee each time}

OR…if you’re insane like me, you can up the ante, and start your burpee count at 20, and do 20 jumping jacks each time for each round.

It’s your choice whether or not to do a pushup with each Burpee or not. This circuit is for time, so rest when you need to, but complete it as quickly as you can. It took me just under 35 minutes (with the added burpees and jumping jacks).

If you do it let me know how it goes! Be sure to check out Grudge Monkey Fitness and like them on Facebook!

Have a happy workout!
